Kelly began teaching yoga full time early in her 20’s. The more she witnessed the lives change of those around her, the more she developed a passion for helping people achieve their potential both spiritually and physically. This passion led her to continue her studies and research with the intention to give more.
Having achieved a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Master’s degree in Chinese Medicine, a Bachelor’s degree in public health and a Bachelor’s degree in fine art, she considers herself a lifelong student. She has spent time studying medicine at China Medical University in Taiwan and also with various practitioners in Florida and North Carolina. It is her life’s mission to help, and she couldn’t be more grateful for this path.
Outside of clinic & office hours, she can be found practicing yoga, camping, hiking & exploring nature with her family. she loves adventures and finding new ways understand nature and humanity. she is an experienced yoga teacher of 15 years who still practices daily! John has worn many, many hats over the years. He started his career as a photojournalist in Florida, and then went back to school for his masters degree in communications and marketing.
Since then, he has run his own business and worked as a team leader in corporate marketing. John decided to join Kelly full time at Roots in 2023. He is so happy to meet new patients and welcome them to Roots.
He predominantly works behind the scenes on marketing content, but he is out and about for the Simpsonville farmers market, as well as any in-person marketing events. John looks forward to meeting you soon!
Mackenzie Thoma, LMT, CMLDT, has been a massage therapist since 2018. She trained at the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, New York. She has a background in Clinical Health Studies and a Master’s degree in Applied Clinical Nutrition. Her work as a massage therapist is both scientifically grounded and respectful of the body’s innate healing abilities.
Her lymphatic massage approach integrates gentle, evidence-based manual lymphatic drainage, using the Vodder Technique, along with holistic wellness recommendations. These recommendations may include lymphatic self-massage, movement, mindfulness meditation, and nutritional advice to support the body’s detoxification and healing processes.
When providing therapeutic massage, Mackenzie lets intuition and deep presence guide her. Open communication is key in her sessions. She ensures her clients feel comfortable and safe on her table.
Mackenzie provides compassionate care to all body sizes, races, ages, abilities, cultures, genders, and sexualities in her practice and believes that healing happens best in an environment of acceptance and trust. Whether someone is recovering from surgery, navigating lymphedema or swelling, or seeking to feel more balanced and at home in their body, Mackenzie is dedicated to supporting each person’s journey.
