Holiday Gift Guide: gift giving for the crunchy, health conscious, wellness-loving individual

What better way to show you care about someone than with a gift that will keep them happy and healthy all year long? We’ve made this list of gifts that have something for every budget, and will be perfect for everyone from the person you’re introducing to a healthy lifestyle to the crunchiest friend you know.

Mushroom Powder

The fabulous fungi have become something of a trend in 2023, and this is one trend worth chasing. There is evidence that mushrooms have a number of health benefits. We carry a number of products from Real Mushrooms, including their Five Defenders blend ($35), hot chocolate mix ($35), and delicious mushroom chocolate bars ($8).

Seeds and a Pot

Gardening is a rewarding, relaxing hobby that everyone can enjoy. This is also the simplest, most affordable gift there is: Get some seeds ($1-$10) from your local garden center and a cute pot ($5-$35), and you’re good to go! Herbs are a great place to start for the newbie gardener or someone who lives in an apartment— rosemary is hearty, easy to grow, and can thrive even in a small pot. The sky is the limit, though, you can also go for some fruits or veggies and organic potting soil, though they’ll take longer to grow and produce food.

Healthy Cookbooks

Cookbooks ($20-$35) are a source of constant inspiration in our home— whenever dinners feel a bit repetitive, we break out a new recipe from one of our favorite books and we have a fresh new taste to try. Many cookbooks favor healthy recipes— Dan Buettner’s Blue Zones Kitchen is widely available and has an impressive variety of regional cuisines all focused on clean eating to promote a longer life. Likewise, Del Sroufe’s Forks Over Knives cookbook is a fantastic introduction to plant-based, anti-inflammatory eating with over 300 recipes.

Meal Delivery Service

Okay, we’ll do you one better. Sometimes you need some extra help getting all the ingredients for a healthy meal together. Delivery services like HelloFresh and Green Chef give you everything you need except the pots and pans to make a delicious meal ($25/box and up). Many meal services have options for vegan, vegetarian, and meat-based meals where the recipient can pick and choose what they want to eat. The instructions included with each meal are extremely easy to follow, making it possible for inexperienced cooks to learn new techniques and have fun doing it.

Instant Pot

We will admit it: we have a little kid and don’t really want to spend 3 hours prepping dinner each night. Either way, an Instant Pot ($130) is a miracle in the kitchen. Most recipes call for two simple steps: 1) dump all the ingredients in, 2) set the timer. And just like that, you’re cooking at home using fresh, healthy recipes, rather than getting takeout or pulling something out of the freezer.

Acupuncture Treatments

We may be a bit biased, but acupuncture is an incredible treat for anyone and everyone. Whether you know someone who has chronic pain issues you want to help with, or just want to give someone the gift of a relaxing hour on the table, a gift card for an acupuncture treatment is a great gift to give. ($98-$120)

Stainless Steel Water Bottle

This is a gift with tons of benefits. It encourages someone to drink more water (we all could use more water), and it is far better for people and the environment than a single-use plastic water bottle. Stainless steel is BPA-free and, when cleaned, far more sanitary than other water bottle materials. We love Hydroflask and Stanley bottles, but there are many, many options out there ($35-$75).

Hammock

Hammocks ($20-$100+) are simple, small, and affordable. Simply string one up between two trees and you have a relaxing afternoon ahead of you. Hammocks encourage spending leisure time outdoors which opens the door to numerous health benefits. Sunshine, fresh air, and time to disconnect are all waiting for that special someone on your list.

Yoga Class Pack

We cannot emphasize enough— yoga is amazing and can benefit everyone. Yoga encourages proper spinal alignment, enhances flexibility, improves balance, and teaches you how to breathe. Best of all, yoga can be modified for people of any level of physical fitness. Most yoga studios offer five or ten-class packs, so you can choose something that fits your budget. (usually $10-$200)

Crystals

If you’ve been in our office, you know we love some crystals and geodes. Crystals are a fun, thoughtful gift that shows you put the extra thought into something— pick out a birth stone, or a stone said to have properties that would be meaningful to the recipient. Rose quartz, for example, harnesses and releases the energy of love and joy. Most crystal stores have cards that detail the properties of each stone, so make a trip out of it and have fun looking at what is available. ($10-$200+)

Diffuser & Essential Oils

Aromatherapy has become pretty popular, with good reason. Essential oils ($15-$100) can have a wide variety of therapeutic benefits, and they smell good too! We recommend Young Living products or Doterra products which are quality tested. There are hundreds of oils to choose from, so pick a couple of your friend’s favorite scents and a diffuser ($25-$100+)!

(note: certain essential oils may not be suitable for people with pets or infants and small children. Make sure you do your research before buying oils!)

Epsom Salt Baths

Epsom salt baths are relaxing, can soothe aches and pains, help with sleep, reduce anxiety, and encourage digestion. This makes them a perfect gift for anyone on your list. We offer Epsom salt blends that include herbs and essential oils, which elevate a bath to a full spa experience. Check out our store or ask us during your next visit to the office to purchase one of our blends ($15).

CBD

We love CBD as an accessible option for herbal relief. Studies suggest it can be used for rest and relaxation, help sleeping, or pain relief. We offer a wide variety of organic CBD products at our clinic including oil and gel capsules ($55-$155).

Thieves’ Cleaning Products

Become the most popular gift-giver among all the neat freaks in your life with thieves’ oil house cleaner and dish soap. We are big believers in thieves’ oil— we use it in our house every single day. Thieves’ is made with essential oils so it doesn’t leave any lingering chemical cleaner smells and is incredibly effective on everything that could need cleaning ($35).

Craft Fair Finds

Why not show your love to your local community this holiday season? Craft fairs are a great source of unique gifts that will make people on your list feel extra special. Look around for a hand-woven scarf, local honey, lotion, or any number of other products, there are plenty of vendors at your local holiday craft fair that will have something that works for someone on your list.

Giving the Gift of Health and Happiness

Of course, this is only the start of where you can go with gifts that focus on a healthy lifestyle. In keeping with the spirit of the season, don’t let gift giving become a mental or financial burden. Think of who you’re giving something to and— more importantly— why you want to give them something special. It’s not about the amount spent, but the amount of thought that goes into something. Something as simple as a bag of Epsom salt could mean the world to someone if it’s given with the right intention!
